When I travel I typically spend hours sifting through countless blogs, Pinterest boards, Yelp reviews.. (you know the deal) to find cool/trendy things to do and places eat. I typically make out pretty well, so I figured why not start sharing my top picks right here!
This past weekend I made a road trip down south to Lake Norman (Moorseville, NC) – you check out some of my favorite spots below:
This was my 3rd time hiking at Crowders Mountain State Park and I highly recommend – it’s located in Gaston country, 30 miles west of Charlotte and a little less than an hour drive from Lake Norman. There are a handful of different trails for varying experience levels.
We started at the visitor center on the Crowders Trail and picked up the Rocktop Trail, crossing several rock edges before ending at the summit of Crowders Mountain. After soaking in the gorgeous views at the top, we hiked back down the Backside Trail starting with 336 wooden steps.
This 104 mile lakefront park is located in Cornelius, NC. The 1.5 mile paved loop was perfect for a morning run along the lake. Check out the 5 minute arms and abs circuit we did afterwards below.

Obsessed with this little lunch spot in Davidson offering farm-to-table sandwiches and outdoor seating! They use vegetables grown by local farmers, roast meats in-house, and offer both gluten free and vegetarian options.
We got the White Bean Hummus sandwich w fresh mozzarella, avocado, spinach and a balsamic reduction, and the Ham sandwich with brie and pickled peaches – highly recommend both.
Stumbled across this juice bar that offers a wide variety of fresh pressed juices, smoothies, and bowls. I got the Sweet Greens juice with apple, kale, spinach, cucumber, parsley and lemon (also, would highly recommend). The others sounded good as well and I fully intend on going back!
I have a list of spots that I want to check out which include the U.S. National Whitewater Center (located in Charlotte and offers a variety of activities including rafting, kayaking, SUPing, rock climbing, zip lining, rope courses and trails for walking, running and biking) and Cycle Bar (cycling studio).
