Weekly Roundup [ 2 . 2 5 ]

Happy Sunday! This week was less than exciting because I actually spent half of the week sick. I hate being sick because it totally throws off my schedule, but thanks to antibiotics I’m back to normal.

Anyways, below are the top 5 things that I’m totally obsessing over this week.

Collagen Peptides

You’ve probably heard of Collagen because it seems to be trending everywhere, but what actually is it and what can it do for you?

Collagen is a natural protein found in bone, cartilage, skin and tendons. What makes this protein unique is it’s high levels of “nonessential” amino acids like glycine, proline and lysine that support the creation and repair of connective tissues. Collagen is naturally found in our bodies, but as we begin to age we produce less collagen and this process starts to breakdown. Hello, loss of skin elasticity, wrinkles, signs of aging – and unfortunately the list goes on.

Supplementing daily with collagen has a ton of awesome benefits including:

  • Healthy skin (helps restore skin’s moisture improving elasticity, tone and vibrancy)
  • Enhanced hair and nails
  • A more youthful appearance
  • Joint health
  • Tendon & bone strength
  • Healthy cartilage
  • Improved digestion and gut health

I’ve been using Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides (unflavored) and simply adding to my morning shake. Vital Proteins recommends 1 serving 1-2 times daily. You can buy it online or in stores like Whole Foods. BTW – Collagen Peptides are gluten free, dairy free, paleo friendly and whole 30 approved! (Note : since collagen is sourced from Brazilian grass-fed bovine, it’s not vegan/vegetarian).

Liquid Chlorophyll

My coworker, friend and fellow blogger [ Michelle Pickens ] got me hooked on Liquid Chlorophyll. Liquid Chlorophyll is packed with nutrients and boasts some serious health benefits including a boosted immune system and increased energy levels. It’s also been known to treat anemia, as well as inflammatory conditions like arthritis.  You can buy this herbal supplement here.

Resistance Bands

Summer is right around the corner (or at least I keep telling myself that it is), so you know what that means – shorts and bikinis. Resistance bands are a great way to tone and sculpt your thighs, glutes, quads and hamstrings. Plus you can take them with you and get in a quick workout almost anywhere. I’ll be posting my resistance band workout to the blog shortly.

Ouai Haircare Dry Shampoo Foam

Two-a-days have become the norm recently and let’s be honest, you just can’t wash your hair that much. This dry shampoo foam is amazing – I had my initial doubts using foam as opposed to spray, but it works wonders and is a total must have in your gym bag.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck

One of my goals for 2018 is to focus on personal development and with that comes reading. More blogs and articles to refine my writing style, but also more books. I figured what better way than to kick things off than with a self-help guide that offers slap in the face advice with ruthless humor.

Cursing doesn’t particularly bother me, but you definitely have to get used to the amount of f bombs Mark Manson drops in the #1 New York Times Best Seller. I haven’t finished the book yet, but so far I’ve found it to provide a refreshing perspective, and for his advice to be both spot on and insanely relevant. You can order your copy here.
