Weekly Roundup [ 3 . 1 8 ]

Alright, I’ve been slacking a little bit with content for the blog over the past two weeks, but hey, you know what – sometimes life just happens. I have some things planned for this week though that I’m excited to share with y’all like a trip to Sprouts, a new natural & organic grocery store that recently opened here locally, another order from Thrive Market, and Stasher Bag guacamole (hello, Taco Tuesday).

Cravings : Recipes for All the Food You Want to Eat

This week I made Pepper’s Spicy Clams and Pasta from Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook – Cravings. Can we talk about goals for a second? Chrissy Teigen. Aside from being a Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model, TV personality, blogger and wife of John Legend, I’m obsessed with her mentality on food, cooking and the kitchen. Food should have a bordering-on-socially-unacceptable amount of flavor, sometimes you just have to indulge and say “f*ck it”, recipes shouldn’t have a jillion ingredients and the kitchen is the heart of any home. That about sums it up right there.

Chrissy started a blog called So Delushious ! as a way to share her love of food and when she came out with a cookbook I had to get my hands on it. Disclaimer – this cookbook isn’t filled with diet recipes, but open to any random page and you won’t be disappointed. You can find recipes for anyone and any occasion from game time appetizers to date-night dinners.

Pepper’s Spicy Clams and Pasta – delicious and so incredibly easy to make. Typically when I post pictures of what I’m making on Instagram, I get the classic response of “omg I can’t cook, I could never make that. This is a prime example of a restaurant worthy meal, that literally anyone could make. Yes – even you. And the best part is that it took less than 30 minutes to make from start to finish, including prep time.

Perfect Bars

You can find these organic, non-gmo, gluten free, soy free, protein packed bars in the refrigerated section of grocery stores nationwide. They are sweetened with organic honey, a complex carb that will ensure your energy levels last. They even have a vegan flavor that are sweetened with low glycemic organic dates. And they pack (or better yet, hide) 20 nutrient-dense super food ingredients like kale, spinach, alfalfa and celery.

Hot Lemon Water

You probably already know that I hardly ever drink coffee and I’m here to tell you that there are so many other options to drink first thing in the AM. Hot lemon water also has a bunch of kickass health benefits..so, keep reading.

According to Shape magazine, Lemons are an incredibly alkaline food when absorbed by the body and hot lemon water can balance your body’s pH. Alcohol, stress, lack of exercise and a diet high in processed foods can all throw your body’s pH out of whack, compromising your immune system and potentially leading to inflammation an disease.

Additionally, lemon water aids your body’s detoxification system, wakes up your digestive tract, boosts your immune system, is a great source of potassium and can even help you look younger (hello vitamin C).

Under Armour HeatGear Armour Ankle Crop

I usually live in my Lulu leggings and have been less than impressed by their Under Armour counterparts. However, I just got these ankle crop leggings and I’m obsessed. The fabric is on point (super-light HeatGear fabric that wicks sweat & dries fast), compression fit (locked-in feel) and they have a thick waist band (so, no sliding down/moving around).

Glass Meal Prep Containers

I love these glass 3-compartment food storage containers from Amazon. I’ve been using them to pack leftovers to bring to work for lunch and they are perfect. I usually make some sort of bento box for lunch from leftovers incorporating one grain, one green (or vegetable) and one protein. Super easy.

Happy Sunday!
