One of the things that I love about living in Baltimore is that there are always new spots popping up across town from fitness studios to juice bars. This weekend I checked out some new spots that just opened and went to some of my old favorites too (obviously).
Check out the details below!
By the end of this week, I was definitely ready to hangout and unwind. I decided to check out Amber, a new community cafe concept that just recently opened in Locust Point’s Anthem House. Amber has an extensive local beer, wine and spirit menu with 40+ taps to choose from. 40 taps are dedicated to craft beer and the other 8 for wine and Baltimore’s Wild Kombucha. I wish they offered gluten free beer options, but at least they had 2 ciders to choose from. As far as food goes, the menu consists of American light fare bites. We went during happy hour, but Amber also doubles as a coffee shop teaming with Annapolis based Ceremony Coffee.
After HH at Amber, we headed to R House in Remington – one of my favorite spots in Baltimore. This former body shop is now home to ten vendors and boasts a 350-seat food hall with roll-up garage doors, booths, communal tables and a bar. You can get anything from tacos to poke bowls, and they have a ton of vegan and gluten free options too.
Some of my favorites are the el chicharrón arepa from White Envelope (pork crackling arepa, grilled white cheese, pickled red onions, cilantro mojo), the Spicy Hawaiian Poke Bowl from Hilo (ahi tuna & salmon w/ spicy mayo, avocado, red onion, cucumber, Jalapeno, tomato, edamame, cilantro / wakame, cilantro, mango, kaiware sprout, green onion, seaweed, macadamia nut & crispy garlic) and the Korean Cauliflower from Stall11.
Two words : avocado toast. It’s so basic, but it’s so good .. so whatever. Annapolis based Ceremony Coffee opened there second location in Harbor Point last year. It’s located right next to Plant Bar (also amazing and opened last week). This is the perfect post-workout breakfast spot – which is super convenient with neighbors like Core Power Yoga and Solidcore.
My recommendations : GF toast w poached egg, smashed avocado, bacon jam (yes) and feta and the GF toast w vanilla yogurt, honey, strawberries and chia seeds.
Ultimate vibes at this place between the white tiles, crystals and succulents/plants. Plant Bar offers made-to-order juices, superfood smoothies, wellness elixirs/shots, and smoothie bowls. Highly recommend the Butter Cup Bowl (banana, almond butter, sea salt & chia seeds topped with banana, raw chocolate syrup & raw chocolate chia granola. I also tried the Flu Shot (ginger, lemon, garlic, parsley, pineapple, oregano oil). It wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the oregano oil and parsley. I prefer my shots to have more of a kick and less of a pizza like after taste (if we’re being honest here). I also tried the Hot Pink Lemonade (grapefruit, apple, beet, lemon, jalapeño). The juice was definitely good, but the bowl was the standout in my opinion.
