I love trying new products – so I figured what better way to end the year than by sharing some of my favorite products/brands that I discovered in 2018. All of them are gluten free and most are even paleo, vegan, dairy free and Non-GMO Project Verified too.
Yasso Frozen Greek Yogurt Bars + Pints
Yasso, the first frozen greek yogurt, now offers a lineup of 16 varieties of bars and pints. Yasso comes from the Greek word “Yassou” – it means “hello”.
Each Yasso manufacturer has regional sources that provide them with high quality dairy ingredients.
my recommendation : Best of Both Swirlds – chocolate and vanilla flavored frozen greek yogurt, 100 calories per serving, 6g protein, gluten free;Mint Chocolate Chip bars – mint frozen greek yogurt bars with chocolate-flavored chips, 100 calories per serving, 5g protein, gluten free
Goodie Girl Cookies
Goodie Girl Cookies Founder Shira Berk created a business around a better-for-you gluten-free twist on classic cookies.
my recommendation : fudge striped, chocolate creme and mint cookies (Birthday Cake is on my list of flavors to try!)
POWDERS + PROTEIN
Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides
Vital Proteins Collagen is a natural source of essential proteins, sourced from pasture-rased cows in Brazil and New Zealand. Collagen improves hair, skin, nails, joints and ligaments, and tendon health.
Stir into your favorite beverage, add to smoothies as a protein booster, mix with oatmeal, add into a variety of recipes.
Vega Protein Powder
My post-workout go to is a Vega plant-based protein shake.
All of Vega’s products are vegan certified, Non-GMO Project Verified, gluten-free, grain-free and free of artificial flavors and preservatives.
my recommendation : vanilla or chocolate
Blender Bombs by Hush Up and Hustle make smoothies so easy. Just add fruit, greens, and liquid of your choice for a superfoods packed (not to mention delicious + filling) BB smoothie.
BB’s are packed with superfood ingredients like dates, acai, local raw honey, goji berries, flax seeds, hemp seeds, and bee pollen.
my recommendation : goji + coconut + acai (blend w frozen berries + bananas, Vega protein powder, collagen peptides, and unsweetened almond milk)
Nuun Electrolyte Tablets
Proper body hydration is so important – which is why I love these electrolyte enhanced drink tabs. They have way less sugar than most sport drinks and are gluten free, dairy + soy free, and made from plant based ingredients.
Drop one tab in your water pre, during or post workout.
my recommendation : tropical fruit, strawberry lemonade, or lemon + lime
I haven’t tried this, but apparently you can combine nuun + beer. Hello post workout incentive?!
SNACKS + BARS
These original refrigerated protein bars are Non-GMO Project verified, certified gluten free and contain 20 organic superfoods like kale, spinach and lemon (yes, found in every bar). High on protein, low on the glycemic index and sweetened the natural way with organic honey (and sometimes dates). I love the cookie-dough texture of Perfect Bars.
Although they are stored in the fridge, you can enjoy Perfect Bars forum to a week on-the-go at room temp!
my recommendation : coconut peanut butter or dark chocate chip peanut butter
RX Bars + Nut Butter
Core ingredients consist of egg whites for protein, dates to bind and nuts for texture. No added sugar, artificial stuff, preservatives, dairy, soy or gluten here.
my recommendation : mango pineapple or vanilla almond butter
KITU Super Coffee + Creamer
Organic Colombian coffee, healthy fats from MCT oil, lactose-free protein – Super Coffee is the real deal. Sugar free, lactose fee, soy free, and gluten free – plus 10 grams of protein.
Doug Bouton, founder of Halo Top, calls Super Coffee “the Halo Top of Coffee” – hows that for a stamp of approval?!
my recommendation : vanilla super coffee
Not all juices are created equally. While they all sound healthy, sugar and sodium levels can be high. Suja tends to be on the healthier side and offers a variety of products ranging from cold-pressed juices and wellness shots to probiotic vinegar juices and kombuchas.
my recommendation : Lemon Cayenne Apple Cider Vinegar Juice or Probiotic Watermelon
OTHER RANDOM STUFF
High in protein, high in fiber and gluten free – what’s not to love about this chickpea alternative to pasta.
Added bonus – Banza has tons of recipes on their website from plant-based to baked pastas and more.
my recommendation : swap any shape for traditional pasta and don’t forget to try the mac & cheese
These yuca root waffles have become a staple in my house. Swapples reinvented waffles by swapping out processed sugars, thickeners and refines flours for 6 real-food ingredients or less. Paleo, vegan and gluten free.
Perfect for a quick breakfast/snack on the go (toaster ready) or get creative with the toppings (seriously the options are endless).
my recommendation : toasted everything swapple w avocado + roasted red pepper flakes
Siete Foods Tortillas
No taco night is complete without these grain free tortillas. These Cassava and Coconut Tortillas are paleo, non GMO, vegan, gluten, dairy and soy free. So what the heck is in them? Trustworthy ingredients like cassava flour, water, coconut flour, coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, sea salt and xanthin gum.
Only downside is they are definitely on the expensive side (especially compared to corn or flour based tortillas).
my recommendation : Cassava Flour Tortillas w oven roasted cauliflower + chickpeas tossed in EVOO, lime juice, cumin and chili powder (and the works – avocado, red cabbage, you know the drill)
